The guitar rang out as the crowded little bar erupted in applause. Ruth turned and picked her drink off the amp, taking a sip while CJ bantered with the crowd for a moment. Ruth hadn't known her for that long, but they'd become quick friends one afternoon when CJ had visited the pub she was working at. They got to talking about music, which eventually lead to a discussion about maybe playing a show sometime, which lead to... well, this. Standing on a tiny stage in a tiny, dirty bar. Three steps forward and she'd go off the front of the stage, one step back and she'd fall over the amps or the drumkit. It was impressive how CJ managed to dance around the stage without knocking into things or falling off. CJ looked back at the band and nodded, dropping her hands down to grip her bass as she prepared for the final song. Ruth set her drink back down and got herself ready as well, nodding to the drummer. He counted them in and the stage rumbled with the first chord struck. She didn't know the drummer or fellow guitarist very well, having only met them at the few rehearsals they'd had before the show. They were people CJ had dug up from somewhere. "I rrripped yer hart out from yer chest~ Ree-place it witha gren ade blast~ Incinerate!~ Incinerate!~ Incinerate!~ Incinerate!~" CJ was a fine bassist, but her singing is what Ruth appreciated the most about her. On a technical level, she wasn't all that impressive, but she sang everything with so much emotion and passion. It made it easy to really get into the songs they played, to feel the music. Ruth bobbed, stepped and swayed along with the music. She could feel the rumbling from the amps and the blast of the kick drum reverberate up through her feet and into her chest. It was the greatest feeling in the world. "Fiy-yer Fiy-ters hose me down~ I dun care I'll burn out annnny how~ It's four alarm girl, nuthin ta see~ Hear the Sirens come for meeeeee-heehee~ Ya dosed mah soul with gasoline~ You flicked a match into mah brayyn~" The cramped space was hot, smokey, but none of it registered to her in this moment. Time stretched out as she just took in the music. Ruth stepped up to her own mic and sang the chorus out with her. "Incinerate!~ Incinerate!~ Incinerate!~ Incinerate!~ The Fiy-yer Fiy-ters are Ssso nice!~ Iih remember you so cooooold as ice~ Now flames 're licking at yer feet~ Sirens come to put me oooouuuut of misery woohaoh!~" CJ turned her attention over to Ruth, a wild smile on her face as she danced around. Ruth closed her eyes, tilting her head to the side so she could really hear the noise plasting from the speakers beside her. She had a small guitar solo spot here, and belted it out without any real plan in mind. She just went with whatever felt good. It was a loud, distorted, messy afair. It was absolutely perfect. "Hell YEAH!" She heard CJ shout above the noise before she moved back to her mic. "That was fuckin` tha best!" "Ya wave yer torch into my eyes~ Flame Thower er love er burning mind~ Incinerate!~ Incinerate!~ Incinerate!~ Incinerate!~ Incinerate!~ Incinerate!~ Incinerate!~ Incinerate!~" Ruth sang the 'Incenerates' along with her again, letting the guitar ring out on the final chord. She bent the neck to draw the sound out as the crowd broke into applause once again.
